Niva Dorell

Niva Dorell is an independent filmmaker and freelance writer based in New York. She won a Showtime Black Filmmaker’s Grant shortly after graduate school and has since had films screen on Showtime, UPN, BET-J, and PBS, as well as at Slamdance, the Jerusalem International Film Festival, the Hollywood Black Film Festival and many others. As a freelance writer, Niva has written articles and profiles for magazines, newspapers, blogs, websites, and other authors, as well as created print and digital branded content for organizations. She has a Masters in Cinema Production from University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Temple University in Philadelphia. She has also been a member of Women in Film-Los Angeles, Upstate Independent Filmmakers Network, The Director’s List, Film Fatales, the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), and Gotham Ghostwriters .
