I’m also working on a memoir about someone deeply special that I lost years ago. Though he doesn’t appear as a ghost in my physical realm, we connect through my dreams. Your essay reminded me that it's okay to find meaning in those “conversations” that can only occur between two people who shared an everlasting, authentic love.

Thank you for sharing this, Marsha, and I'm sorry for your loss. I agree, we don't need anyone outside of ourselves to understand or confirm or explain these connections. We know the truth of what we experience. When I feel Jeff with me, he's with me. That's all.

Narratively said that I could read this piece paywall free…but it wase’t true.

I lost someone special recently. Thought I could find something in your words that I could connect with. I cannot afford subscriptions. And I do understand how it works and why. But they said yours was free….

Hi Leslie, thank you for being here! I totally understand not having the money for subscriptions. I hope you'll come back when it's opened up again later this week—and I'd love to see you in the live Q&A if you're able to make it. And I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and I hope you'll be able to read the piece.

Hi Leslie, I'm sorry for your loss, first of all. And you're right, this piece was paywall free for several weeks, but a paywall was put on it in time. We actually plan to open it up again later this week ahead of a live Q&A we'll be doing with the author, but if you'd like to read it sooner or have any additional questions, feel free to email me directly: jsposato@narratively.com. Happy to help, thanks!
